The parents, businesspeople and other citizens involved with Citizens for Strong Schools will need your help to encourage voters to Renew the One Mill for Schools. There are a number of ways you can get involved in that effort.
Communicate with friends, family, coworkers: Encourage the people you know to visit the Citizens for Strong Schools website to learn more about the one mill and its importance to our schools and our entire community.
Over the next few months we'll be putting together electronic fact sheets and other materials about the one mill. If you're willing to share these materials with people you know, let us know by emailing us at email@example.com. We can then send you information that you can forward.
Register to Vote: Make sure your voice will be heard by registering to vote in the November election. There are a number of ways to register, including online. Just visit the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office website at http://elections.alachua.fl.us for more information. Remember, the deadline for registering in time to vote in the November election is October 9. Then, be sure to vote!
Contribute: Citizens for Strong Schools will be working to reach voters in a number of ways, including direct mail, signs, and ads in newspapers, on radio and TV. Of course, this costs money. A contribution of any amount will help us educate citizens about the one mill.
You can contribute to Citizens for Strong Schools through our PayPal feature here, or by mailing a check made out to 'Citizens for Strong Schools' to:
Citizens for Strong Schools
1120 NW 13th Street
Gainesville, FL 32601
Post a Sign: Citizens for Strong Schools will be investing in both small and large signs to promote the One Mill. If you'd be willing to host either a small or large sign at your business or home later this fall, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As we get closer to Election Day, we'll also be putting out a call for folks willing to wave one of our signs at major intersections throughout the county.
Letters to the Editor: Letters to the editor are a good way to reach people who are regular voters. Consider writing a letter to the Gainesville Sun about why you support the one mill. Letters can be emailed to the Sun's opinion page at email@example.com.
Got another idea? If you have a special skill or talent that you think could help with this effort, please let us know!
